National Nutrition Month

Updated: Apr 12, 2021

National Nutrition Month® is an annual nutrition education and information campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating habits.

During National Nutrition Month®, the Academy’s vision is to achieve a world where all people thrive through the transformative power of food and nutrition.

Here are a few key messages in 2020.

Discover the benefits of a healthy eating style.

An eating style? I recently had a client tell me she doesn’t like ‘lunch food’ and wants to eat more vegetarian options. Quinoa and plain Greek yogurt have been her recent favorites. After discussing various combinations, she's trying quinoa bowls with frozen vegetables and edamame, and making a Greek yogurt dip for fresh vegetables.

Keep it simple.

Eating right doesn't have to be complicated. Lunch is what you make it, don’t feel pressured to create an ’organized’ meal. Make a list of nutrient-dense foods you prefer, and be sure to keep them stocked in your home.
